The government of South Korea has pledged to support the government’s initiative to start smart cities in Nepal reports, The Kathmandu Post. The South Korean government will be providing diverse economic support for the project.
The government started the initiative in May of this year saying that it will build four smart cities in the Kathmandu Valley. Then the plan improved and progressed and changed and recharged.
Now the plan includes two metropolitan cities Kathmandu and Pokhara, and four other municipalities. The municipalities include Ramgram in Nawalparasi, Nilkantha in Dhading, Dhulikhel in Kavre and Bhaktapur.
The information was shared during the International City Summit and Mayors’ Forum held from September 10 to 13 in Seoul.
Narendra Kumar Gupta, Ramgram municipality’s Major has confirmed the government’s help.
The International Summit was attended by 130 mayors from 50 different countries from around the globe.
During the summit, sustainable development of Nepal’s smart cities was talked about. And an extensive report on South Korea’s development works of 35 years was also given.
